Planning and cleanup continue at CWR.
Using a combination of contractors (funded by cleanup coverage in our insurance), volunteers coordinated by Bastrop County Long Term Recovery and area churches, CWR staff, and CWR volunteers we are making significant progress on the cleanup and restoration of the two camp properties.
At 1320 Park Road 1C (East Camp)
We have electricity on the East Camp property and are making progress in restoring water to the wooden bathrooms near the Welcome Center. All fire damaged buildings in the Main Camp area have been demolished and removed. We have cleaned around the Oaks Cabins and the Low Ropes area, but still have cleanup to complete in the marksmanship areas. Dead trees in the immediate vicinity of the main camp are down and stacked, but the remainder of the camp has not been cleared.
At 855 Park Road 1C (West Camp)
We have restored electricity and plumbing to the Lake Pavilion. We have restored plumbing to all of the RV Sites and electrical service to half of the RV sites. We have begun the cleanup of the Maintenance Barn and other structures. The well pump has been reset, tested and needs to have electricity restored. There are several areas needing further cleanup on the site.
In addition to the volunteers who came to our limited workday on 11/21, we are extremely grateful to the following organizations, companies, and individuals for their assistance in the recovery:
- Joe Bland Construction - Equipment, operators and materials to repair the entry to the 855 property.
- HCBC Community Impact (Dean Heier) - Electrical work at both sites.
- Foundation Church ICare ministry (Dallas Taylor) - Plumbing work at both sites.
- Texas Baptist Men Disaster Recovery (Piney Woods Camp team) - tree cleanup at both sites.
- Bastrop County Long Term Recovery - Coordination of volunteers at both sites.
- Willie Thompson - Scrap removal.
- JC Dozer Services - Demolition and site cleanup.
- Bastrop County Emergency Services - Site cleanup resources.

Outdoor Wilderness Learning Continues
On November 18th, we continued our monthly Outdoor Wilderness Learning sessions. We took the students into the woods to view and capture tracks made by the abundant wildlife on the camp property.
At the direction of the Board of Directors, we are searching for a site in or near Bastrop County where we can establish facilities to operate camp beginning in June 2016. We continue to seek an appropriate property for our "wilderness camping" operating model. Please pray that we are able to locate and close on an appropriate site quickly.
December 1st is Giving Tuesday. Consider supporting our recovery or our staff on that day. Generous benefactors have agreed to match donations received for our Recovery & Rebuilding Fund before the end of the year up to $35,000.
