Posted by Rick Austin on behalf of Ron and Sandy Hunt.
There is no easy way to say this. Wilderness Ridge Camp has been destroyed by the wildfire that raged through Bastrop in the last few days. I just spoke to Ron and, needless to say, he and Sandy are devastated by the reality of the total loss of the camp facilities. Wilderness Ridge Camp was their life but, even in the midst of loss, their faith in the sovereignty of God remains strong.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 (NASB)
While the physical part of Wilderness Ridge Camp has been destroyed, the spiritual impact of Wilderness Ridge will never be destroyed but will live on for all eternity.
Let Habbakkuk 3:17-19 be our prayer to the God in whom we trust:
Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.
