2014 was an incredible year for the ministry
of Jesus Christ at Camp Wilderness Ridge
As we reflect on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ,
on a silent night over 2000 years ago,
we are reminded that His ministry is the core
of everything we do out here in the
Lost Pines of Central Texas.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David
a Savior, who is CHRIST the LORD!”
- Luke 2:11 (ESV)
Spring Break Day Camp
Spring Break 2014 allowed us to serve over 60 boys & girls from Bastrop & Smithville elementary schools. This is an incredible opportunity to share the Gospel with local students and present biblical lessons. In 2015, the middle school youth of Grace Covenant Church in Austin will assist us in leading camp for 80 first through sixth graders.
Full Spring & Fall Retreats
With nearly every weekend from February to June and August to Thanksgiving full, we were able to serve over 750 campers this year! In addition to our typical slate of father/son & father/daughter groups, we are thankful to serve new communities such as Marriage Encounter Central Texas, Launch Global, & the Hispano Life ministry of HCBC Austin. It’s also good to have the Texas State BYX (Brothers Under Christ) fraternity back at camp after about 5 years!
6 Weeks of Summer Camp for Young Men
This summer, more than 20 young men were led by our staff & volunteers to accept the gift of Salvation! All were challenged to serve and lead like Jesus. This year we ramped up training for staff & volunteers, and it paid off big! Preparations & recruiting for 2015 are already underway.
NEW: Father/Son Summer Camp
debuted in the middle of Summer Camp this year, and it was a great hit! Over five days, fathers and sons were given activities, team-building tasks, quality time, & biblical curriculum to aid them in reconnecting, creating strong bonds, and passing on their heart of what it means to be a man of God to their sons.
NEW: OWL Program
is leading seven Bastrop-area homeschool boys through an outdoor education curriculum that helps them learn more about God through diving deeper into studying His creation. We get to spend a great deal of quality time with these young men, as the Outdoor Wilderness Learning classes will continue every other Wednesday through May 2015, when they will graduate during a celebratory father/son campout in our beautiful primitive area.
Dear CWR Family,
We’re nothing without you
We witness year after year that the partnership of our committed friends is how God chooses to work out His plan for Camp Wilderness Ridge. So we want to thank all of you again for your support this year. Whether it was entrusting us with your men-in-the-making last summer, attending a weekend retreat or event, serving as a Servant-Leader or SALT member, or by faithfully offering up your prayers and financial support, YOU had a huge impact. Your faithfulness to God’s will is really changing lives!
“We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord... and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us...”
- II Corinthians 8:1-15 (ESV)
God works through His people. He also asks His people to be good stewards in investing the resources they’ve been given to His glory. Camp Wilderness Ridge is an independent Christmas ministry, trusting God for 27 years to provide what is needed to complete the tasks, meet challenges, and fulfill our mission.
What do we need from you?
Your investment will help us to start 2015 on solid financial footing and enable to faithfully serve those who come to camp.
We need $36,000 for the General Fund
and a minimum of $15,000 for the Summer Camp Scholarships Fund.
These funds sustain the operations of our ministry and keep camp accessible for those of all financial situations.
Please prayerfully consider whether God is calling you to give a special end-of-year offering to His ministry at Camp Wilderness Ridge. If you feel His gentle nudge, we pray you will be obedient to what He calls you. We are confident that if everyone who gets this letter will just commit to pray about it individually or as couples, God will work on the hearts of those He wants to give and will provide the funds the camp needs. Every gift, no matter what the amount, is significant.
Will you commit to pray?
