March 2014 Newsletter

Dear CWR Family,

We are preparing for an amazing summer that will challenge each camper spiritually, mentally, and physically.  Learn more about Summer Camp at

Father/Son Camp

A new camp week that we’re excited about for this summer is Father/Son Camp. We put this camp together for dads to have an incredible opportunity to spend just with their sons. We believe that the ideal age for sons attending this camp is 11 and up, because it is a crucial time in their lives. As Paul stated in I Corinthians 13:11, When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.”

My observation is that dads must call their son to manhood. The challenge is then interacting with them as men—respecting their son’s opinions, listening with an expectation of a worthwhile interchange (as a peer), engaging in conversation and a productive time investment. If your son is 11 or older, come to work through challenges, team-up to meet the conditions and issues you’ll face, and enjoy the experience of 5 days together. Dads will you take the time?

Father/Son Camp runs from Saturday, June 28th to Wednesday, July 2nd. Find out more and register here:

Our Vision:

“Camp Wilderness Ridge exists to change the world through the leadership of REAL men.”

REAL Men...

• Reject passivity

• Expect God’s greater reward

• Accept responsibility

• Lead Courageously

Summer Camp Scholarships

This is an excerpt from single mother’s email request for a scholarship for her son. “Being around other boys his age, I think would allow him (son 8) to continue to feel like a still have that innocence that we want in our children and being around Christian men that take time out of their own lives to be role models to other young men, I believe speaks volumes. I want to set my child up for success and what a better way than to send him to a Christian camp.” Please prayerfully consider giving a financial gift for scholarships.

CWR Spring Break Day Camps, March 10-14, for boys and girls, 5 to 12 years old, was a great success!  A total of 66 children participated throughout the week.  Special thanks to Grace Covenant Church, who sent their middle school youth to partner with us teaching and leading, and the many others that volunteered during the week.

NOMADS, thank you for serving the Bastrop Disaster Relief effort so well. Volunteer teams have been coming and going since mid-October and departed on March 20th. NOMADS RVs hooked up at the CWR RV area and worked each day rebuilding homes in the area, it was great host them.
